RMS TIMES JUNE 2011
Welcome back dear readers to this first long awaited edition of your beloved RMS Times for the new academic year.We have a brand new group of eagle eyed reporters who have already managed to collect loads of stale news to share with you.Let us begin by telling you something that you already know- mainly that the school has been half painted and so is looking half nice. The other half looks as ghastly as it did last year. There are also several new teachers in school who have already been harassed by our eagle eared reporters to give us some interviews about themselves.
NEW TEACHERS: Ms Blud Rodrigues: She told us that she liked the RMS campus even though it was only half painted and that 8A and 5A were her favourite classes even though they were only half well behaved. Her message to all RMS students was “ Make the most of the gift and education and school life”
Ms Anthea Barretto: She told us that she was happy to be in RMS and that she liked to teach history and English.
Br Nitesh: He is here in place of Br Ranjit. He said that he was happy to be transferred to RMS.He said that 7B was the best class in school and that we should talk in English and sing the national anthem properly.
Ms Rainda :She told us that she had always wanted to be a teacher since her schooldays and that she found teaching in RMS a challenging and good experience. Her message to the students was “Work continuously to achieve success”
Ms Maryln” She said that she too liked the school and the staff and that she liked the RMS students because they mostly did their homework on time when they were not too busy doing other things. Her message to us was “work hard to the best of your ability”
NEW CLASS IN SCHOOL
Another new thing that was invented in the new academic year was a new division in class 9. Students of class 9 arrived to find that some of them had been placed in Class 9C. It has now been revealed that Class 9C was created this year mainly so that there could be one more football team to challenge class 10 B at the Joffre Paes Interclass football tournament. However in all the practice games so far 10 B has been beating all the other classes very badly – so things are not looking so good for the opposition.
FOOTBALL TRANSFERS
Since we are talking about the Inter Class football tournament we bring you the breaking news that Class 10B have used the transfer window to transfer Velroy Rodrigues from Class 10A to Class 10B.
The 10 B coach Br Wilson said that their team badly needed a fast, small forward who was good at dribbling and who could also bite some defenders when the referee was not looking. The transfer fee for Velroy was rumoured to be a staggering sum of ten rupees plus 3 samosas from the canteen.
In his first interview to the press after joining his new class Velroy said that he was going to score many goals for 10 B and was also going to bite many people when the referee was not looking.
FAREWELL TO MS MARIA AND MS MILUCHA
Ms Maria and Ms Milucha left RMS on the 30th of June after having taught here for so many years. There was a farewell ceremony for them in the school hall that day. Both of them thanked the staff and students in their farewell speeches and told us that they would miss us very much. Here are farewell interviews of both of them taken by our reporters.

A MISSING FACE
Last year’s class 8A on returning to school spent most of the first day looking here and there for their last year’s class teacher.Gradually the news filtered through that Ms Natasha had left school. They were very sad and have decided not to study any more science this year in protest.(mainly physics and chemistry.)
A FAMILIAR FACE
An old familiar face that suddenly became visible in RMS was that of Ms Zita Paes. She was here for about one month – teaching English and Maths to class 9C.We were very happy to see her in school again.
SSC 2011The SSC results were declared very late this year. Many of the RMS SSC students suffered terribly from tension and high blood pressure as the date for the release of results kept being postponed again and again and again. However when the results were finally declared we found that Shardool had come first by scoring a mind boggling 92% and most other people had also done very well- though their percentages were not so mind boggling. They have now all gone and got admission in various colleges here and there and now they have tension and high blood pressure because they are all missing school very badly.
( Picture of Shubam missing school very badly can be seen at the side.)
SSC SCHOLARSHIPS 2011
The ceremony for the SSC scholarships took place on the 18th of June. The photographs shows the winners.Huma and Prakash were selected best guide and best scout respectively.Adrian and Shardool got a special prize for being the best quiz team of RMS for the last two years. Celeste and Shweta got scholarships for singing and music.Vishal and Avnish were awarded for hard work and Abhinav was declared the best sportsman of the year. All those who came first in the various subjects also got scholarships.Shardool came first in almost all the subjects except Konkani (Ashwini),Hindi (Shanice) and French (Celeste).Ashwin De Melo is also part of the photograph because he is the first ever winner of the Ms Maria Silva Scholarship for the best Science Project of the year.
NEW SCHOOL LEADERS
The new school leaders of the school have been selected.Click on the images to see all of them. Our eagle nosed reporters are in the process of interviewing them and getting you live coverage of the investiture ceremony which – like the SSC Results – is getting postponed again and again and again.(and again)
CCE
No it does not stand for Closed Circuit Examinations. It stands for the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation – which is a new system of schooling for students of classes 1 to 8. As details are a bit hazy at the moment teachers are saying that it stands for Complicated and Confusing Evaluation. Our Eagle feathered reporters are on the job and will soon bring you the latest on this story.Meanwhile if anyone tells you that you will never fail again – it’s not true.
That’s all we have time for in this first RMS Times of the Year folks.Hopefully there will be more.Stay tuned.
