Welcome back dear readers to another edition of the RMS Times. We won’t say welcome back to another long awaited edition of the RMS Times because it’s been so long since the last edition that you have probably given up waiting. We start this issue with a puzzle.
Q:What is the similarity between a Sabre Toothed Tiger and the RMS Times ?
Give up?
A: One is extinct and the other one is almost extinct.
The RMS Times is going to be extinct because all the good reporters have been hunted to extinction and the others are so lazy that they might as well be extinct.
The news that you are going to read is so stale that it can be used by the Class 10 students in the science laboratory for doing experiment number 7B – The study of mould under a microscope.
So hurry up and read the mouldy news before the class 10s take it away for microscopic analysis.
THE RETURN OF DEEPAK

There were sounds of rejoicing and celebration from class 8A a few months ago.The reason for this unseemly noise was Deepak .He had mysteriously disappeared to Nepal for almost 2 months. Then he mysteriously reappeared. His reappearance brought much joy to the class and also the school football team. Our eagle brained reporters asked him a few questions upon his return.
Q: What change did you find in school after coming back?
Deepak: The school is painted and scouts and guides have appeared in class 6 and 7
Q: Who did you miss the most?
Deepak: Johan and Fernando
Q: Which subject did you have to copy the most notes in after you came back
Deepak: Science.
If our reporters had any sense they would have asked him some questions aboutNepaland whether he had climbedMount Everest but they didn’t so you will just have to ask him yourself.
FAREWELL MS BRENDA
Ms Brenda left RMS after having taught here for 18 years. Here are some answers she gave to our reporters.
Q: Which is your favourite class?
Ms Brenda: Class 2A – my own.
Q: What is your best memory of school?
Ms Brenda:When parents came to tell me that their children are doing well.
Q: What is your message to RMS students as you leave ?
Ms Brenda:Be good,study well,be respetful..
Q: How do you feel on leaving school?
Ms Brenda:Mixed …happy and sad.
Ms Brenda went on to get a job in Fatima Convent Margao and has now settled into her teaching job there.
GIANT PANDA AND GORILLA STALK RMS CAMPUS
A Giant Panda and Gorilla have been reportedly seen in the RMS campus. They mainly hide in the bushes somewhere near the basketball court and occasionally jump out and harrass passers by.They go away if you give them bananas to eat.
Hence it is advised to carry a bunch of bananas if you are passing by the basketball court - just in case ….Contact class 8A for further details.
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Inter house basketball tournament started in November last year and came to an end on the 9th of March. In the semi final Nikhil Pinto surprised everyone and himself by scoring two three pointers and several other baskets. The a hard fought semifinal went all the way into four quarters. With one minute to go on the clock O Farrell house was leading Slattery by two points and all they had to do was defend that slender lead. However Vineet pulled off a hard to believe victory for his team by scoring a three pointer in the dying seconds of the game. The finals turned out to be a very one sided game by comparision.Mulligan beat Slattery by a comfortable margin of 24 – 10.
Best Player of the Tournament: Vineet Aher
Most Promising Player : Jeremiah Lingam
Most dangerous Player: Either Johan G or Godfrey R.(Both use several WWF wrestling moves while playing basketball)
The B Team final was played between O Farrell House and Mulligan House and O Farrell prevented Mulligan from getting a clean sweep by beating them 8 – 2.
INTERCLASS CRICKET

Classes 7B and 9C proved to be the Interclass Cricket Champions of the year. The teams can be seen below looking very happy because they won..Autographs from the winning players are available during recess at the cost of one samosa per autograph.Check near the canteen.
SPORTS DAY
It was held sometime in December and no one can clearly remember what exactly happened but everyone can remember that everything went very well.Slattery House won the Championship and that is why our Flying Headboy Sheldon is also looking so happy..Siraj Umar was the fastest runner in school for the second year in succession and also created a new record in the 200m race.
ANNUAL DAY. It was an evening of song and dance, music and melody.Everybody sang, danced and acted very well and the audience got very tired clapping because everything was so good. The program ended with a Christmas play by the primary school students. The draw of the raffle was also conducted and some students of 10B were very disappointed that they did not win the Honda Deo Bike.
SCOUTING AND GUIDING
This year camps were held on the campus for classes 6 to 10.Class 6 and 7 had a day camp.Class 8 had a one night overnight camp and 9 and 10 had two nights. The participants had plenty of scouting and guiding activities and not much sleep. The amount of dust on the RMS field has decreased. It has partly been eaten along with the chapattis and bhaji and the rest been breathed in……..!
The staff members in charge have still not completely recovered from all the exertion involved. The last photograph shows some students from classes 7 and 8 on their hike displaying the classic RMS technique of what to do when you get lost during a scout hike – You shout and scream and run madly in all directions .
THEY WENT TO BANGALORE

The RMS under 15 football team took part in the Parikrama Champion’s league tournament in Banglore. They had a good time there and did very well too – reaching the semifinals before losing to a team that was allegedly slightly overage. They came back with several prizes – Most skillful player ( Delroy) ,Highest Goal Scorer ( Benecio) and Best Forward ( Stromberg) .
AARON AND FERNANDO

RMS football legends Aaron and Fernando were selected to representGoaat in inter state Football Tournament in West Bengal.Aaron has now been selected for a national camp which is going to be in March. The reason why he is looking more happy than Fernando in the photograph is that he is also going to get to bunk his final exams.
RAFTING ON VADDEM LAKE
Another edition of the annual rafting adventure on the shark infested waters of Vaddem Lake took place sometime in January .RMS sent several teams of intrepid and highly trained rafters to take part in the event. They all came back looking very happy except Agnes who somehow managed to fall into the water. She did not get bitten by a shark because they had all gone off to another lake to get away from the pollution but she got pretty wet.
CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT INOX

The RMS Carol Singers won the first place at the Chicalim Panchayat Carol Singing Competition and used their prize money to go off to Inox to see a movie. The photograph shows them inside the theatre waiting for the movie to start. The reason why they are all looking so happy is because they are sure that Varel is going to share that popcorn with them because he does not want to get bashed up if he doesn’t,
RMS REPORTERS SWITCH JOBS

The photograph shows the last two ex RMS Times Reporters. They gave up their jobs as reporters and became pickle sellers instead. They said it is far better to be pickle sellers rather than extinct reporters of a nearly extinct newspaper.
On this tragic note dear reader we bring this issue of the RMS Times to an end.Farewell.
(2009-2010 batch student)Hi!! Friends keep smiling and by winning each and every competition take RMS to the topmost glory!!!
