AN APPEAL
From,
Brother Anish John
Regina Mundi High School
Dear Ex Student, Friends, Well wishers,
The Regina Mundi School Building that you are all familiar with was built in 1971 and so becomes 41 years old in 2012. Wear and tear over the years and exposure to the salt air of the sea has resulted in the structure requiring constant maintenance and repair. The nature of maintenance works becomes more major as the building gets older and older.
While much work has been done over the last few years much still remains to be done. At the moment during the summer holidays wooden windows in some of the upstairs rooms are being replaced by aluminium ones. However shortage of funds does not us permit us to do all the windows and so we are doing the work in small sections.
A very major pending work of maintenance is the repair of the roof over the primary classes. During the monsoon there is a lot of seepage of water into some of the classrooms – so bad that the children have to be moved out of the classrooms when it rains too heavily.
Another long standing need of the school is the construction of a proper boundary wall around the school. Stray dogs and stray cattle parading around the school are a regular distraction and menace during school hours.
This is an appeal for all of you to generously donate towards the completion of the urgently pending maintenance works described above.
